What We Do
Sydney is the ideal canvas to discover everything your camera can do … and more
They say a ‘picture tells a thousand words’, but we’re betting your prized SLR can probably capture a few more!
If you’ve always been a little intimated by all those dials and buttons, you can put those days behind you when you spend half a day with us at a photography workshop with a difference.
This experience is unique because you take a tour of your camera in the privacy of our home, which is nestled beside a beautiful national park – then we head outdoors to stroll through the park to a gorgeous harbour beach … and put everything you’ve learned into practice!
With more than a little help from our friend, award-winning photographer Pamela Pauline, Local Eyes has crafted this experience to help anyone who has always yearned to get more from their SLR camera.
In the relaxed and welcoming environment of our home, we’ll enjoy morning tea as Pamela teaches you the tips and tricks you’ve always wanted to know – and a few more.
This is also a rare chance to see beautiful parts of Sydney that few tourists ever discover – and capture them forever through your lens … and our local eyes.
Tips and tricks to enhance your photography – and capture our gorgeous ‘neck of the woods’ …
Your experience begins with a leisurely scenic drive across the Harbour Bridge to our stomping ground – Sydney’s beautiful northern beaches. On the way we’ll also stop at a spectacular lookout to inspire the photographer in you.
After Pamela’s lesson, we’ll stroll through native bush to the beautiful harbour beach below our home – along the way you can put your new photography skills into practice.
After all, this is a travel experience as well as a photography workshop and the walk is an ideal opportunity to combine the two – testing out everything you’ve learned about aperture, speed, lighting and motion … and with Pamela by your side to help you capture the travel imagery you’ve always dreamed of.
Your stunning natural backdrop is a mix of a bush and harbour landscapes, peppered with native Australian animals, wild flowers and varied scenes of Sydney’s beach culture.
After your ‘field’ experience we return home to toast your new skills and view the results over a refreshing drink and a platter of local and homemade cheeses – and, perhaps one final portrait snap to remember the day you turned your SLR off ‘auto’ … forever.
Good To Know
Your Experience is private – for individuals, couples or your group of up to 7 people. As it is personalised just for you, our starting point is a discussion of your level of photography expertise so we can enhance your skills, answer your questions and focus on the images you want to capture from landscapes and landmarks to portraits and wildlife. When you book, please tell us what you’re hoping to achieve from your time with Pamela so she can prepare detailed photography notes that reflect your individual needs and desires. Pamela designs these notes to accompany your lesson, assist you with the ongoing improvement of your photography skills and help you understand the full functionality of your camera. Hotel transfers, guided walks, morning tea and your wine and cheese platter are also included.
